Here are some situations in which people were very glad to have purchased planb with their battleface policy.
In 2013 a team of journalists visiting a conflict zone in Asia were kidnapped by terrorist-militants. Despite an environment fraught with severe violence and extreme conflict, the team led negotiations to obtain the safe and timely release of every hostage. This was in part by cooperating with national authorities and the law enforcement agencies of several other countries which also had people held by the same militant group. The hostages we released made full recoveries and quickly returned to work. After debriefing and analysis, we drafted a set of client-specific procedures to prevent future kidnappings.
When the 2014 government collapse in Burkina Faso occurred, we provided our mining and exploration client with an evacuation plan to move local and expatriate personnel to safety. Because all international airports were closed, we moved in convoy by road. On the day after the crisis unfolded, and as soon as the curfews had lifted, personnel were moved to a remote camp site in a location that was free of security concerns and with full life support, protection and communications. A rough airfield nearby (that had been previously reconnoitered by our security team) acted as a contingency option for emergency evacuation by air. A road evacuation to the nearby border with Ghana was also planned and ready to implement if required. Luckily, within a matter of a few days events stabilized, allowing the movement of expatriate personnel to leave the country by commercial means and permitted local management to re-occupy office facilities in the nation’s capital, Ouagadougou.
Operating in Egypt during the 2014 national elections, an NGO needed extra security. The embedded security team in the Cairo head office provided 24/7 monitoring country-wide to ensure that every worker was safe. We also acted as security advisors and were prepared for the worst with a strong crisis response plan for all personnel. The team logged over 4,000 trips safely across Egypt without accident or incident.
