{"id":12800,"date":"2020-06-22T09:19:32","date_gmt":"2020-06-22T09:19:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordsandimages.battleface.com\/?p=12800"},"modified":"2020-07-03T07:57:40","modified_gmt":"2020-07-03T07:57:40","slug":"kev-sidford-favourite-travel-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.battleface.com\/blog\/kev-sidford-favourite-travel-experience\/","title":{"rendered":"Favourite travel experience | Kev Sidford"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Approx read: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> 2<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">mins<\/span><\/span><h3 id=\"we-asked-some-of-our-most-well\">We asked some of our most well-travelled contributors, interviewees and partners about their favourite moments on the road &#8211; the experiences that sparked their love for travel or have stuck with them over the years.<\/h3>\n<p>Here at battleface, travel is what gets us out of bed in the morning.<\/p>\n<p>The thrill of landing in a new destination, of immersing ourselves in a foreign culture, of pushing ourselves to our physical limits and expanding our understanding of this wide, wonderful planet we all share.<\/p>\n<p>But we can\u2019t do any of that right now.<\/p>\n<p>So, instead we\u2019re going to bask in the warm memories of our favourite travel experiences and daydream about that happy point in the future where we\u2019ve beaten this pandemic.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"kev-sidford\" class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Kev Sidford<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Kev is an expedition leader, founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/adventurecode.biz\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Adventure Code<\/span><\/a>, and a partnerships director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/baiml.org\/\"><span class=\"s2\">British Association of International Mountain Leaders (BAIML)<\/span><\/a>. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Development (Outdoor Learning). A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, Kev also works as a location advisor, journalist, and expedition consultant for youth expedition groups.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">Of all the places that I have visited, Transylvania is indelibly etched in my mind as the place to be. There are few places that I have visited that have so much to captivate the mind; ranging from fortified churches, medieval castles, great wine and beer to the last bastion in Europe for a habitat suitable for bears, along with lynx and wolves.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Transylvania Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia | Halloween Special!\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/J9N08yMI6PA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">So, what is my most memorable experience in Transylvania? Taking a group of young cadets on the challenge of a lifetime. An unsupported trek across the Fagaras Ridge. A tough 80 km test with 5,800 metres of ascent crossing eight peaks of over 2,500m including Romania\u2019s highest peak, Moldoveanu, at 2,544m.
