{"id":17521,"date":"2023-02-03T11:13:10","date_gmt":"2023-02-03T11:13:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.battleface.com\/blog\/?p=17521"},"modified":"2023-04-05T15:21:21","modified_gmt":"2023-04-05T15:21:21","slug":"alice-morrison-mount-elgon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.battleface.com\/blog\/alice-morrison-mount-elgon\/","title":{"rendered":"Adventurer Alice completes gruelling volcano trek"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Approx read: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> 3<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">mins<\/span><\/span><h2 id=\"alice-morrison-an-author-and-l\">Alice Morrison, an author and lifelong adventurer, completed her six-day trek to the summit of Mount Elgon, Uganda, raising vital funds for Ugandan charity S.A.L.V.E International.<\/h2>\n<h3 id=\"the-expedition-supported-by-ba\">The expedition, supported by battleface, saw Alice set off from the Ugandan city of Jinja on January 28th, aiming to reach the summit of Mount Elgon, which sits on the Ugandan\/Kenyan border.<\/h3>\n<h4 id=\"alice-recorded-her-observation\">Alice recorded her observations for battleface as the expedition progressed.<\/h4>\n<p>Alice said: \u201cDay one was a shock of jungle all around and violent ascents up the red earth. I went for a bathe in the waterfall and let out such a shriek that the bats all fled screaming!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Day two offered the opportunity to finally experience the spectacular views over the local landscape \u2013 as well as learn about some of the conservation issues facing the region.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.battleface.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Photo-03-02-2023-10-31-21.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17524 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.battleface.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Photo-03-02-2023-10-31-21.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.battleface.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Photo-03-02-2023-10-31-21.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.battleface.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Photo-03-02-2023-10-31-21-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.battleface.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Photo-03-02-2023-10-31-21-696x928.jpg 696w, https:\/\/www.battleface.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Photo-03-02-2023-10-31-21-315x420.jpg 315w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n\u201cWe emerged from the forest &#8211; the mixed bamboo zone &#8211; out on to the tops &#8211; the heather zone. But we were repaid with best views so far. A few members were feeling sick from the altitude. Reaching the top, we had a huge sense of accomplishment.
