Emergency Medical and Additional Expenses
Unlimited cover for overseas inpatient or outpatient charges, for any illness or injury first showing after you start your trip:
  • Includes COVID-19
  • Includes emergency transport where deemed medically necessary
  • Maximum coverage duration is 12 months

We’ll pay $50 per 24-hour period that you’re in hospital as an inpatient overseas, up to a maximum of $1,000.

Cover for up to $2,000 for essential treatment to alleviate pain or discomfort to sound, healthy and natural teeth.

Cover for travel costs to bring you home, where medically necessary. We’ll also cover the cost of a medical or non-medical escort if necessary.

Cover for up to $20,000 for your burial or cremation abroad including the costs to return ashes to Australia, or the transportation costs to return your body home.

Cover for up to $2,500 to reimburse you for your original airfare if you’re injured or contract an illness overseas and it is necessary to return with a medical escort.

Trip Cancellation

Cover for your prepaid, non-refundable travel and accommodation you don’t use if you can’t begin or complete your trip for a covered reason, including a diagnosis of COVID-19. Coverage available as selected, up to $40,000 per person.

Rearrangement costs, up to the level of Cancellation cover selected, if you need to reschedule all or part of your trip for a covered reason.

Cover for accommodation costs up to $50 per 6-hour delay if your prepaid public transport is delayed for reasons beyond your control, up to a maximum of $2,000.

If you’re diagnosed with COVID-19 while travelling, we’ll pay accommodation costs of up to $200 per insured person for up to 14 days if you are directed to quarantine.

Luggage and Personal Effects

Cover if your luggage is accidentally lost, stolen, or damaged during your trip. Coverage available up to $10,000 per person, with a single item limit of $2,000.

Cover up to $500 for costs to replace your passport or visa if lost, stolen or damaged during your trip, including associated travel costs.

Cover up to $300 per insured person for the purchase of essential items if your baggage is delayed by more than 12 hours.

Rental Vehicle Damage Package

Cover up to $5,000 for the excess you’re required to pay due to the theft of, or damage to, your rental vehicle.

Rental Vehicle Damage Package

Cover up to $200 per day, to a maximum of $1,400 if your return from overseas is delayed and you need to extend your pet boarding arrangements.

Single-Trip International Travel Insurance

Cancellation and Trip Interruption cover, if selected, applies for cancellation or restriction by the carrier of pre-paid, scheduled public transport services, caused by severe weather or a natural disaster.

If selected, battleface provides Cancellation or Trip Interruption cover when you need to cancel or change your travel plans, due to your pre-paid accommodation having been destroyed or if it becomes uninhabitable due to severe weather or natural disaster. This is on the basis that no alternative equivalent accommodation is available nearby and you’ve done everything you can to find other accommodation. You must make a reasonable attempt to obtain evidence of the incident, such as written confirmation from an official of the hotel or government body where the incident took place.

No, cover would only apply for any illness or injury first showing after you leave Australia.

Pandemics and epidemics are excluded from cover, with the exception of COVID-19 under the prescribed conditions outlined in the PDS.

No, this product does not cover for resort closure due to COVID-19. If you are notified of a resort closure due to COVID-19, we recommend you contact the resort or your travel agent.

We’ll pay up to the amount shown in the Schedule of Benefits in the PDS for the following:

  • Damaged items – we’ll repair damage where practical and economical to do so
  • Stolen and lost items – we’ll replace any items available from our usual suppliers
  • For items we agree we can’t repair or replace, we’ll calculate your benefit based on the depreciation table below
  • In the event of loss to a pair or set of items, we’ll pay the lesser of the:
    • cost to repair or buy the individual item(s) needed to complete the set or pair; or
    • original purchase price of the set or pair (subject to depreciation).
  • Up to AUD $500 for expenses incurred overseas where it’s legal and necessary to replace prescription medication damaged, stolen or accidentally lost during your trip
  • The cost to replace your passport or visa if lost, stolen or damaged during your trip, including relevant travel costs up to AUD $500
  • Losses from unauthorised use of your credit cards, if lost or stolen during the covered trip and you’ve met the terms of the issuing credit card company

If your carrier confirms your luggage is delayed or misplaced for a period of more than 12 hours, you can claim up to AUD $300 per insured person to buy essential items. This benefit doesn’t apply for your return journey home. No excess applies to claims under this benefit. We’ll also cover costs to ship your lost luggage and personal effects to you if recovered.

The amount we charge is the total amount of the premium and any relevant government charges. Several factors are considered in determining the amount payable. These include:

  • Advance Purchase – the further in advance that you purchase the policy, the higher the premium may be
  • Age – the older you are, the higher the premium is likely to be
  • Duration – the longer you travel, the higher the premium is likely to be
  • Destination – higher risk destinations will generally require higher premiums
  • Excess – the higher the excess you choose, the lower the premium you will pay
  • Optional Covers – you can choose additional cover, for example, a Cruise pack. The more covers that you choose, the higher the premium will be
  • Variable Limits – you have flexibility to choose your required level of benefit on some covers. The higher the benefit that you choose, the higher the premium is likely to be

Snow Pack cover, when selected, covers equipment loss or damage for skiing and snowboarding. It extends the standard benefits of your policy to include claims which may arise when you are participating in snow sports. No cover will apply in respect of Personal Liability claims.

Equipment includes snowboards, skis, bindings, sticks/poles and boots. Snow sports equipment is covered (the maximum amount payable for each insured person is AUD $300). Hired equipment is also covered (the maximum amount payable for each insured person is AUD $300). Exclusions do apply, so please check the PDS and your Certificate of Insurance for full details.

Only if you are skiing with a qualified instructor or guide. In all other cases, skiing off-piste will not be covered.

Participation in snow sports in a professional capacity (including training or practice) or on a competitive basis are not covered.

There is strictly no cover under the terms and conditions of this policy when engaging in off-piste skiing (unless with a qualified instructor or guide), freestyle skiing, ski-jumping, snow sport acrobatics or stunts, extreme skiing/snowboarding, skeleton and luge or any variations.

There is no cover for losses incurred from any pre-existing medical condition impacting you, a member of the travelling party or a non-travelling close relative, your business partner or co-worker. This doesn’t apply to automatically covered conditions. You don’t need to disclose your pre-existing conditions to us when you buy a policy, but we may ask for relevant details of your medical history in the event of a claim.

Our definition of pre-existing medical condition is, in the 12 months before buying the policy:

  • a medical or dental condition of which you’re aware, or the related complication you have, or the symptoms of which you’re aware
  • a medical or dental condition currently being, or has been, investigated or treated by a medical practitioner (including dentist or chiropractor)
  • any condition for which you take prescribed medicine. Doesn’t apply to common colds, flu or contraceptive medication
  • any condition for which you’ve had surgery
  • any condition for which you see a medical specialist

This definition applies to you, your travelling party, a close relative or any other person named on the Certificate of Insurance

We’ll pay up to AUD $2,000 per insured person for:

  • the cost of essential temporary treatment for the immediate relief of pain or discomfort to sound, healthy and natural teeth; and/or
  • emergency repairs to dentures and orthodontic appliances carried out solely to alleviate distress in eating

This insurance excludes certain sports and activities. Please see the PDS for the full list of excluded activities.

You can change your travel dates any time before the start of your trip and policy cancellation is free within the cooling-off period. We can offer you a full refund provided you cancel within 21 days of receiving your policy documents and before the departure date of your policy.

If you have already embarked on your trip or need to cancel after the 21-day cooling-off period, your premium will be refunded pro-rata from the date your instructions are received, provided you have not made or do not intend to make a claim.

In all cases, whether or not you cancel within the cooling-off period, we will only consider a refund if:

  • You haven’t started your trip
  • You haven’t made a claim
  • You don’t intend to make a claim or exercise any other right under your policy

When a policy cancellation has been accepted, we will process your refund within 15 business days.

You may be able to extend your policy by contacting our team directly. Several factors may be considered including whether the original policy has lapsed. The policy automatically extends if your return is delayed by an event covered under the policy, until you are able to return to Australia by the quickest route.

You are eligible to buy if:

  • You are 18 years of age or older, but not more than 99 years of age
  • The date of your departure is no more than 12 months from the date of purchase
  • You are an Australian resident
  • You have not commenced your trip

FRAUD WARNING STATEMENT

FOR RESIDENTS OF ALL STATES OTHER THAN THOSE LISTED BELOW: Any person who knowingly presents a false or fraudulent claim for payment of a loss or benefit or knowingly presents false information in an application for insurance is guilty of a crime and may be subject to fines and confinement in prison.

ALASKA: A person who knowingly and with intent to injure, defraud, or deceive an insurance company files a claim containing false, incomplete, or misleading information may be prosecuted under state law.

ARIZONA: For your protection Arizona law requires the following statement to appear on this form. Any person who knowingly presents a false or fraudulent claim for payment of a loss is subject to criminal and civil penalties.

CALIFORNIA: For your protection California law requires the following to appear on this form: Any person who knowingly presents false or fraudulent information to obtain or amend insurance coverage or to make a claim for the payment of a loss is guilty of a crime and may be subject to fines and confinement in state prison. 

COLORADO:  It is unlawful to knowingly provide false, incomplete, or misleading facts or information to an insurance company for the purpose of defrauding or attempting to defraud the company. Penalties may include imprisonment, fines, denial of insurance and civil damages. Any insurance company or agent of an insurance company who knowingly provides false, incomplete, or misleading facts or information to a policyholder or claimant for the purpose of defrauding or attempting to defraud the policyholder or claimant with regard to a settlement or award payable from insurance proceeds shall be reported to the Colorado division of insurance within the department of regulatory agencies.

DELAWARE: Any person who knowingly, and with intent to injure, defraud or deceive any insurer, files a statement of claim containing any false, incomplete or misleading information is guilty of a felony.

FLORIDA:  Any person who knowingly and with intent to injure, defraud, or deceive any insurer files a statement of claim or an application containing any false, incomplete, or misleading information is guilty of a felony of the third degree.

IDAHO: Any person who knowingly, and with intent to defraud or deceive any insurance company, files a statement of claim containing any false, incomplete, or misleading information is guilty of a felony.

INDIANA: A person who knowingly and with intent to defraud an insurer files a statement of claim containing any false, incomplete, or misleading information commits a felony.

KANSAS: A “fraudulent insurance act” means an act committed by any person who, knowingly and with intent to defraud, presents, causes to be presented or prepares with knowledge or belief that it will be presented to or by an insurer, purported insurer, broker or any agent thereof, any written, electronic, electronic impulse, facsimile, magnetic, oral, or telephonic communication or statement as part of, or in support of, an application for the issuance of, or the rating of an insurance policy for personal or commercial insurance, or a claim for payment or other benefit pursuant to an insurance policy for commercial or personal insurance which such person knows to contain materially false information concerning any fact material thereto; or conceals, for the purpose of misleading, information concerning any fact material thereto.

KENTUCKY: 

Application: Any person who knowingly and with intent to defraud any insurance company or other person files an application for insurance containing any materially false information or conceals, for the purpose of misleading, information concerning any fact material thereto commits a fraudulent insurance act, which is a crime.

Claim Form: Any person who knowingly and with intent to defraud any insurance company or other person files a statement of claim containing any materially false information or conceals, for the purpose of misleading, information concerning any fact material thereto commits a fraudulent insurance act, which is a crime.

MAINE: It is a crime to knowingly provide false, incomplete or misleading information to an insurance company for the purpose of defrauding the company. Penalties may include imprisonment, fines or a denial of insurance benefits.

MARYLAND:  Any person who knowingly or willfully presents a false or fraudulent claim for payment of a loss or benefit or who knowingly or willfully presents false information in an application for insurance is guilty of a crime and may be subject to fines and confinement in prison.

MINNESOTA:  A person who files a claim with intent to defraud or helps commit a fraud against an insurer is guilty of a crime.

NEW HAMPSHIRE: Any person who, with a purpose to injure, defraud, or deceive any insurance company, files a statement of claim containing any false, incomplete, or misleading information is subject to prosecution and punishment for insurance fraud, as provided in RSA 638:20.

NEW JERSEY:

Application: Any person who includes any false or misleading information on an application for an insurance policy is subject to criminal and civil penalties.

Claim Form: Any person who knowingly files a statement of claim containing any false or misleading information is subject to criminal and civil penalties.

PENNSYLVANIA: Any person who knowingly and with intent to defraud any insurance company or other person files an application for insurance or statement of claim containing any materially false information or conceals for the purpose of misleading, information concerning any fact material thereto commits a fraudulent insurance act, which is a crime and subjects such person to criminal and civil penalties.

NEW MEXICO: ANY PERSON WHO KNOWINGLY PRESENTS A FALSE OR FRAUDULENT CLAIM FOR PAYMENT OF A LOSS OR BENEFIT OR KNOWINGLY PRESENTS FALSE INFORMATION IN AN APPLICATION FOR INSURANCE IS GUILTY OF A CRIME AND MAY BE SUBJECT TO CIVIL FINES AND CRIMINAL PENALTIES.

OHIO: Any person who, with intent to defraud or knowing that he is facilitating a fraud against an insurer, submits an application or files a claim containing a false or deceptive statement is guilty of insurance fraud.

OKLAHOMA: Any person who knowingly, and with intent to injure, defraud or deceive any insurer, makes any claim for the proceeds of an insurance policy containing any false, incomplete or misleading information is guilty of a felony.

OREGON: IMPORTANT NOTE: Any person who knowingly presents a false or fraudulent claim for payment of a loss or benefit or knowingly presents false information in an application for insurance may be guilty of a crime and may be subject to fines and confinement in prison.

TENNESSEE: It is a crime to knowingly provide false, incomplete or misleading information to an insurance company for the purpose of defrauding the company. Penalties include imprisonment, fines and denial of insurance benefit.

TEXAS: Any person who knowingly presents a false or fraudulent claim for payment of a loss is guilty of a crime and may be subject to fines and confinement in state prison. 

VIRGINIA: It is a crime to knowingly provide false, incomplete or misleading information to an insurance company for the purpose of defrauding the company. Penalties include imprisonment, fines and denial of insurance benefits. 

WASHINGTON: It is a crime to knowingly provide false, incomplete or misleading information to an insurance company for the purpose of defrauding the company. Penalties include imprisonment, fines and denial of insurance benefits.

NEW YORK*:  Any person who knowingly and with intent to defraud any insurance company or other person files an application for insurance or statement of claim containing any materially false information, or conceals for the purpose of misleading, information concerning any fact material thereto, commits a fraudulent insurance act, which is a crime, and shall also be subject to a civil penalty not to exceed five thousand dollars and the stated value of the claim for each such violation.
